EY Names Trey Traviesa, CEO of MGT, as Entrepreneur Of The Year 2025 Florida Award Finalist

TAMPA, Fla, May 29, 2025 — MGT, a national technology and advisory solutions leader serving state, local, and education government clients, today announced that Chief Executive Officer Trey Traviesa has been selected as an EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2025 Florida Award Finalist.

The Entrepreneur Of The Year award spotlights executives whose innovations shape the future and make a profound impact on communities, and it recognizes Mr. Traviesa’s record in growing and transforming MGT through a series of strategic acquisitions and private equity investments.

An independent panel of judges selected Traviesa as an Entrepreneur Of The Year Florida Finalist among 25 others based on criteria such as entrepreneurial spirit, purpose, growth, and lasting impact in building long-term value. Traviesa will join other finalists on June 13 at a ceremony in Orlando, where the winner will be announced and then also considered for the national Entrepreneur Of The Year National Awards, which will be presented at EY’s annual Strategic Growth Forum, Nov. 12-15, at Palm Springs, California.

“I’m privileged and humbled to be named a finalist for this honor, and as a member of MGT, I’m especially proud to represent our firm and all the success we’ve achieved together,” Traviesa said. “As we mark our firm’s 50th anniversary, we continue to believe that no sector of the U.S. economy impacts more people, more frequently, in more important ways than education and government. Today, our team members are putting this belief into action by creating meaningful impact and elevating technology and operational performance in nearly 2,000 school districts, cities, counties, states, and government agencies across the U.S.”

Since acquiring MGT in 2015, Traviesa has led the firm to a period of rapid growth and expansion. Over the last four years, he has overseen MGT’s acquisition of 11 companies, which most recently included Ednetics, a provider of advanced technology solutions for education and public sector organizations that has made MGT the second-largest provider of technology infrastructure to low-income school communities in the nation. During his tenure, Traviesa has also secured strategic partnerships with the private equity firms The Vistria Group and Trivest Partners, and he has grown the firm to nearly 1,000 employees nationwide, with annual revenue approaching $500 million.
