This thought-provoking session will challenge educational leaders to reflect on how they can better equip themselves with the skills, knowledge, and mindsets necessary to foster long-term student success. By exploring innovative strategies and best practices, leaders will delve into the importance of creating environments where students not only excel academically but also develop the essential social, emotional, and critical thinking skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. The session will encourage leaders to think deeply about how to cultivate a culture of continuous learning, resilience, and student empowerment, ensuring that every decision and initiative contributes to sustainable, meaningful outcomes for all students.

Friday, April 25th
11:15 – 12:15PM

Room Gemini B

Presented by: Dr. Cassie Pencek with Dr. Shannicka Johnson

Explore practical, research-based processes to improve student success at the elementary level, with a focused lens on literacy. Using what we know about Science of Reading (SOR) and Science of Reading Instruction (SORI) to guide a comprehensive Literacy Needs Assessment, helping schools and educators examine current practices through an evidence-based framework. Attendees will reflect on their own instructional and leadership practices, identify strengths and opportunities for growth, and walk away with actionable insights to align literacy efforts with what the science says works for all learners.

Friday, April 25th
2:00 – 3:00PM

Room Gemini B

Presented by: Dr. Derrick Dalton

This highly engaging session will explore strategies to address diverse student needs, promote cultural responsiveness, and foster a sense of belonging. By examining best practices, sharing insights, and engaging in collaborative discussions, educators will develop actionable plans to implement in their classrooms and schools. Our professional learning session aims to empower educators in creating inclusive learning environments that foster equity, motivation, and empowerment. In a rapidly evolving educational landscape, it is crucial to ensure that all adults are equipped to offer students equitable access to a quality education. To collaborate successfully, adults also have a responsibility to understand the human behavior of students and other adults. Participants will delve into the essential components of the science of human behavior and how our learning environments can best inspire and motivate. Coaches from MGT will share lessons learned from their efforts to develop positive school cultures based on the science of human behavior.
